Learning the real history of this nation made me a better person.

I’m more understanding, patient and confident.

Because now I know that this country would not be as wonderful as it is if it weren’t for people like my g. g. grandfather who was a free Black man and served in the Civil War! And his son, my g.grandfather helped build the state capitol in Columbia, South Carolina!

Shoot, my people literally helped build this country!

So I write about them.

I write stories about Black folks who use their wit and grit to build amazing lives for themselves and their communities

and somehow manage to make something out of nothing.

I recently co-wrote the feature story of the film (tentatively) titled “Queenie” for Sony/TriStar Pictures.

I have written, self-funded, directed and edited four scripted podcasts/audio dramas. My first series, Harlem Queen is highly acclaimed and listened to all over the world.

I am a Bundles Scholar at Columbia University, selected for an AIR Media New Voice, and a Tribeca Festival alum. I am a ten time LMCC/NYSCA grantee.

Yup, I’m pretty dope.
